Berkshire Hathaway is most often thought as the company run by Chairman and CEO, Warren Buffett. It is one of the largest holding companies in the United States and is considered by many as one of the most respected companies. Mr.Buffett’s approach to investing has long been admired by the investment community. He seeks companies well suited for long term profitability. Berkshire’s insurance companies maintain strong capital positions and a very large amount of surplus. This is reflected by the continuous solid financial ratings it receives from all rating agencies.
Demonstrating its valued diversity, Berkshire as a holding company owns many other companies in other industries such as retail, manufacturing, building products, and finance including Nebraska Furniture Mart, Borsheims, Fruit of the Loom, Benjamin Moore, Helzberg Diamonds, and See’s Candies.
